All of Us Research Program Director to Deliver Keynote on Importance of Personalized Medicine Research at PMC’s 13th Annual State of Personalized Medicine Luncheon Address on May 2

PMC President: All of Us program represents ‘bet on America’s future’

WASHINGTON (March 20, 2017)

The Personalized Medicine Coalition (PMC) is pleased to announce that Eric Dishman, director of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH)’s All of Us Research Program, part of the Precision Medicine Initiative (PMI), will discuss the importance of personalized medicine research during his keynote address at PMC’s 13th Annual State of Personalized Medicine Luncheon Address, scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. ET at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on May 2.

PMC President Edward Abrahams notes that the benefits of personalized medicine include "better health care” at "a lesser cost,” which President Donald Trump described as two of his top priorities in health care during an interview with ABC News in January. PMC has documented the field’s ability to improve health and reduce costs in The Personalized Medicine Report: Opportunity, Challenges, and the Future, which the Coalition released on March 7 during a briefing in the United States Senate titled Personalized Medicine: Opportunities and Public Policy Challenges. The insights from research projects like the All of Us program, Abrahams said, will facilitate the expansion of these goals.

"Research programs like All of Us and the Cancer Moonshot, which enjoy bipartisan support in Congress, accelerate the country’s drive toward the promise of personalized medicine — improved patient outcomes and a more efficient and cost-effective health system,” Abrahams said. "They represent bets on America’s future."

The State of Personalized Medicine Luncheon Address serves as a forum for PMC members and guests from across the health care community to engage policy leaders in a discussion of the key issues facing the field. The event brings a policy leader to the National Press Club to deliver a keynote address and answer questions from the audience.

The luncheon is free for PMC members, government representatives and members of the press.
