Background

PMC drives a research agenda that advances personalized medicine by identifying key research priorities and commissioning studies that examine the clinical and economic value of personalized medicine in various diseases states.

Ongoing projects include:

  • Moving Beyond Population Averages: Patient Principles for a Personalized Medicine Research Agenda, through which PMC is using a Eugene Washington Engagement Award for $220,000 provided by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to develop a research agenda that can drive progress in personalized medicine.
  • The Clinical and Economic Value of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) in Cancer Care, through which PMC is building evidence demonstrating that NGS would yield significant clinical and economic benefits in cancer care if it were fully integrated into the health care system. The study is examining the utility of NGS for patients with cancer types including lung cancer and melanoma.
