WASHINGTON (February 24, 2016)
The Personalized Medicine Coalition joins the greater health care community in congratulating Robert M. Califf, M.D., M.A.C.C., on his appointment as commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Dr. Califf has voiced his support for the President's Precision Medicine Initiative, FDA's precisionFDA platform for next-generation sequencing assay evaluation and regulatory science exploration, and the personalized medicine field while delivering comments for a variety of events over the past year, including the 11th Annual Personalized Medicine Conference at Harvard Medical School.
PMC Executive Vice President Amy M. Miller, Ph.D., said the Coalition looks forward to continuing its engagement with the agency under Dr. Califf's leadership.
"Dr. Califf is a highly esteemed researcher and cardiologist who is clearly committed to personalized medicine," Miller said. "The Coalition welcomes his confirmation."
Dr. Califf previously served as FDA's deputy commissioner for medical products and tobacco.
